In 2025, we were engaged to replace a failing clean utilities system that supports a critical production line. Scheduled to be completed and operational by August this year, the project is challenging with a tight schedule, complex environment and mounting pressure posed by an existing water contamination risk to ongoing manufacturing operations.
The client’s existing system has been compromised by water contamination issues, impacting production reliability and end-user safety. The project involves replacing this critical utility system with purified water generation and distribution skids of the highest sanitary standards from our partner Elettracqua. Purified Water is integral to manufacturing and cleaning processes and is therefore essential to maintaining product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
This project is being executed in partnership with one of our most enduring manufacturing partners – Elettracqua.
1Supplier is leading the project with a clear understanding of our client’s requirements and on-site constraints, managing the full project life cycle, from concept through to execution. To date, we have progressed from the early-stage design to the manufacturing of the skids and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT). We are now entering the critical stage of installation, to be followed by commissioning and validation phases.
Spatial Constraints
Unlike a new, uncommissioned production facility, this project must be executed in consideration of the existing plant design and ongoing operations. This influences the design specification of the Purified Water System, including the need for modular fabrication to facilitate transport, positioning and installation within the available space.
Minimising Disruption
The site remains fully operational with active production lines. To avoid disruption, we are installing the new system in parallel with the existing live system within a specific new area that has to be retrofitted. Works are being carefully coordinated around the client’s production schedule so as not to disrupt plant operations. This includes our equipment fabrication timelines, logistical arrangements, installation and commissioning works.
Time Sensitivity
Notwithstanding the challenges with space and ongoing operations, the presence of ongoing contamination within the clean utilities system significantly heightens the urgency of the project. Due to its direct interface with production and cleaning processes, this issue poses an immediate threat to product quality and end-user safety. Timely and efficient execution is therefore essential.
Given the complexity of the project and a compressed timeline, detailed planning is the key to project success. Our Project Manager assessed requirements and constraints on the ground, communicating directly with the client’s operational team to identify viable opportunities for positioning and installation of the new system without disrupting their operations. This was supported by site surveys and studies of existing layout and space limitations. Once we had clarity on every aspect on the ground, we called in the technical expertise from our partner, Elettracqua, to begin the design phase.

In pharmaceutical manufacturing, water consumption is one of the industry’s major sustainability concerns.
This system has been designed to perform at a high-level of efficiency, achieving a recovery rate of over 90% (meaning less than 10% of water is rejected across various treatment steps). The rejected water is also repurposed in cleaning and backwashing sequences to maximise resource efficiency.
The equipment is now being installed at the client’s facility. We look forward to sharing more updates as the project progresses.
